Well after almost 9 years at the same job; i put my resignation in and started a new job on February 25th. It was one of the hardest thinigs i ever had to do. The place that i had been working at - i had went from full-time to part-time when we got Isaiah and my actual intentions were to be a stay at home mom. Unfortunately in this day and age - both parents need to bring home the "bacon".
So, when i asked for more hours - they weren't able to honor my request due to hiring somebody else full-time to handle some of the duties i was doing.
So, i started looking for another part-timie job to supplement the one i had - but couldn't find anything. I than started putting my resume out there for a few full-time positions (not really thinking anything would happen) and got a phone call for an interview. After my interview and having to pass some written tests, drug tests and a background check - i was hired.
I started at a company called "Med3000". It's a multi-billion dollar health management company. It's basically doing alot of the same things that i was doing but i'm having to learn a more advanced software that has been a little challenging.
The benefits package is awesome - which includes three weeks of vacation a year; along with 8 paid holidays (so really 4 1/2 weeks paid vacation) and much more. They even have benefits for the part-time people; which is nice. It makes people feel appreciated and want to work there. They also have Life Insurance, short term & long term disability, 529 college account, 401k with 40% match, health spending account, flexible spending account and much more. Now that we have a child - some of these benefits will really be valuable to us to have.
I'm in training for 30 days but actually work on my own. I also like the fact that you can wear whatever you want to and you can listen to a radio or ipod at your desk.
I wasn't sure if i'd like it - but so far so good. It was just a very hard career move. I will miss a few people at my former job as well as a few of the patients and especially Dr. Lupo who has been a wonderful asset in mine and my families life.
